Monaco Grand Prix Transfers — Private Chauffeur for Formula 1 Weekend

The Monaco Grand Prix is not just a race. It is four days in June when the most famous street circuit in the world closes the roads of an entire Principality, when every hotel room within thirty kilometres is full, and when getting from one side of Monaco to the other can take longer than a Formula 1 pit stop.

If you are coming to Monaco for the Grand Prix — for the race, for the parties, for the yachts in Port Hercule — the single most important thing you can arrange before you arrive is your ground transport. Not after you land. Not the morning of the race. Before.

Monaco Taxi Limousine has operated Grand Prix weekend transfers for years. We know which roads close and when, which access routes remain open for private vehicles, and how to get you where you need to be — whether that is a grandstand at Rascasse, a superyacht at the quay, or a dinner reservation at Le Louis XV that cannot wait.

Why the Grand Prix Changes Everything

Road Closures and Circuit Access

The Monaco Grand Prix circuit follows the public roads of the Principality. From Thursday practice to Sunday race, significant sections of Monaco’s road network are closed or restricted — Boulevard Albert 1er, Avenue d’Ostende, the tunnel section below the Fairmont hairpin, and much of the Casino quarter approach. What is normally a five-minute drive across Monaco can become impossible by car on race day.

Your driver knows every access route that remains open throughout the weekend — the Moyenne Corniche approaches, the Fontvieille port access road, and the precise windows when circuit sections briefly reopen between sessions. This is not knowledge you find on a map app.

No Uber. No Taxis Available.

Uber and Bolt do not operate in Monaco under any circumstances. The official Monaco taxi service — normally adequate — is overwhelmed during Grand Prix weekend. Wait times at the Casino rank regularly exceed one hour on Saturday qualifying and Sunday race day. Pre-booked private transfer is the only reliable option for the entire weekend.

Every Hotel, Yacht, and Venue Has Different Access

The Hôtel de Paris is inside the circuit perimeter. The Hermitage, the Metropole, and the Columbus are each accessed differently depending on which sessions are running. Port Hercule has its own access schedule for yacht guests. Your driver knows all of this in advance and plans every journey accordingly.

Grand Prix Weekend Transfer Prices

All prices are per vehicle, not per person. Fixed at booking — confirmed in writing before the weekend begins. Grand Prix weekend pricing applies from the Wednesday before the race to the Monday after.

Monaco Taxi Limousine — Grand Prix weekend transfer prices
Route Distance E-Class V-Class S-Class
Within Monaco — circuit area transfers ~5 km €82 €105 €150

For disposal hire during Grand Prix weekend — a dedicated vehicle and driver for the full day — see the rates below. Given the road closures and the pace of the weekend, full-day disposal is what most of our Grand Prix clients choose.

Full-Day Disposal — The Smart Choice for Grand Prix Weekend

A single transfer gets you from A to B. A full-day disposal gives you a vehicle and driver who moves with you throughout the day — from your hotel to the grandstand, to Port Hercule for lunch, to the paddock entrance in the afternoon, and to dinner wherever the evening takes you.

During Grand Prix weekend, this is not a luxury. It is the only way to move through Monaco without spending half the day waiting for a car that may or may not arrive.

Monaco Taxi Limousine — Grand Prix disposal hire rates
Vehicle Per hour Half-day (4h) Full day (8–10h)
Mercedes E-Class €80/h €320 €640
Mercedes V-Class €90/h €360 €720
Mercedes S-Class €125/h €500 €1,000

The Grand Prix Weekend — Day by Day

Wednesday — Arrivals Day

Most guests arrive on Wednesday before the circuit closes. This is the last day when Monaco’s roads function normally. If you are flying into Nice, Wednesday afternoon is the best window for your airport transfer — the A8 is clear, Port Hercule is accessible, and your hotel check-in is straightforward. From Thursday, everything changes.

Thursday — First Practice Sessions

The circuit opens for the first practice sessions on Thursday. Road closures begin in the morning. Access to circuit-perimeter hotels becomes restricted. Your driver will know your hotel’s specific access window and will route accordingly. Book your Thursday transfers as part of your overall weekend arrangement.

Saturday — Qualifying Day

Saturday qualifying is the most congested day of the weekend. Every grandstand is full, every superyacht in Port Hercule has guests, and every road in the Principality is under pressure. Your driver plans departure times with a buffer that accounts for the qualifying schedule — because a driver who has not accounted for the grid formation will leave you watching qualifying from a stationary car rather than a grandstand.

Sunday — Race Day

Race day in Monaco is unlike any other sporting event in the world. The circuit is fully closed from early morning. Access to the Principality is restricted to specific entry points. Your driver knows the approved vehicle access routes for race day and will coordinate your pickup and drop-off times around the race schedule. After the race, Monaco empties quickly — but not instantly. Your driver will be at the agreed meeting point regardless of the post-race timing.

Where We Operate During Grand Prix Weekend

Port Hercule — Yacht Transfers

Port Hercule is the heart of Grand Prix social life. Your chauffeur coordinates directly with your yacht captain or crew for quayside pickup and drop-off, working within the port access schedule for private vehicles. For clients arriving at Port Hercule by tender during the race weekend, we coordinate timing around the circuit schedule. See also our Monaco Yacht Show transfer for September yacht event logistics.

Casino Square and the Grandstands

The grandstands at Rascasse, Anthony Noghes, and the Casino section have specific access points that change by session. Your driver knows each one and will get you to the right entrance without the walk that catches out first-time Grand Prix visitors.

Nice Airport Connections

Guests flying in during Grand Prix week need a driver who has already accounted for the additional journey time on the A8 and the restricted access into Monaco. For full route information see our Nice Airport to Monaco transferr. For the return journey after the race, see Monaco to Nice Airport.

How to Book — Grand Prix Timing Matters

Grand Prix weekend availability is limited. We do not have unlimited vehicles, and neither does anyone else operating legitimately in Monaco during race weekend. The clients who secure their ground transport first are the ones who have it when they need it.

Our recommendation: book at least two weeks before the Grand Prix. If you are planning a full weekend arrangement — arrivals on Wednesday, transfers throughout the four days, and a departure on Monday — book the complete package in a single conversation. It is simpler, faster, and ensures consistency of vehicle and driver throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book Grand Prix Monaco transfers?

At least two weeks before the race — earlier if you need multiple vehicles or full-day disposal for several days. Grand Prix weekend is the single most in-demand period of the year for Monaco ground transport. Availability is genuinely limited, and price does not guarantee a vehicle if none are available.

Can I get a taxi during the Monaco Grand Prix?

Uber and Bolt do not operate in Monaco. The official Monaco taxi service exists but is overwhelmed during race weekend — wait times at the Casino rank regularly exceed one hour on Saturday and Sunday. Pre-booked private transfer is the only reliable option for the entire Grand Prix weekend.

How do I get from Nice Airport to Monaco during the Grand Prix?

Your driver meets you at Nice Airport as normal — arrivals hall, T1 or T2, name board. The difference during Grand Prix week is journey time: allow 60 to 90 minutes instead of the normal 35 to 40. The A8 carries significantly more traffic, and the final approach into Monaco is restricted. Fixed price from €174 in an E-Class. See our full Nice Airport to Monaco transfer for details.

What is the best vehicle for Grand Prix weekend in Monaco?

For a couple or solo traveller, the Mercedes E-Class is the most practical — easier to navigate the narrow access roads in Monaco than a larger vehicle. For a group of four to six, the V-Class. For clients who require the highest level of comfort and discretion throughout the weekend, the S-Class. Full-day disposal in any vehicle is the recommended arrangement for race day itself.

Do you cover the Thursday and Saturday sessions as well as the race?

Yes. We cover the full Grand Prix weekend from Wednesday arrivals through Monday departures — practice sessions on Thursday, qualifying on Saturday, the race on Sunday, and any event transfers in between. Book the complete weekend arrangement in a single booking.

Can you pick me up from my yacht at Port Hercule during the Grand Prix?

Yes. Your chauffeur coordinates with your captain or crew for tender timing and quayside access, working within the port vehicle access schedule for that session of the weekend. Specify your vessel name and berth location at booking.
